Folk Music & Easy Listening

MY MUSIC>
Hank calls his music "folk and easy listening." Though rooted in traditional folk songs of America and inclusive of more contemporary tunes by singer/songwriters, the main thrust of his music is from the "Folk Revival" - those songs popular during the 1950s and 1960s when he was growing up and "hootenanny" was taking the country by storm.
Launched by Pete Seeger and the Weavers, who stood on the shoulders of Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie and others, the Folk Revival featured such artists as the Kingston Trio, Peter Paul & Mary, the Limeliters, the Chad Mitchell Trio, Ian & Sylvia, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Tom Paxton, Judy Collins, Gordon Lightfoot and so many more. These are Hank's idols and he sings their songs.
Hank supplements his folk revival songs with other tunes of the period and ballads popular thereafter. The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Harry Chapin, Simon & Garfunkel, Jim Croce and others recorded songs that Hank loves to sing.
